Divination Parlor Ethics
While Tarot, Runes, and Oracle Cards can, in fact, be a great form of entertainment for some people, we prefer to focus on how the Tarot can help our clients become happier, healthier, stronger people. Since that is our focus, it is very important that both YOU, the Client, and US, the Readers, understand a few things going into the reading, when it comes to ethics and privacy:
We are not licensed therapists; Michelle Iacona is an ordained minister, and she offers the expertise of her guides (who have been with her for over twenty years) to you through this service. Between the lessons from our own personal journeys and the signposts provided by the Tarot, Oracle Cards, and Runes, we will provide you with as much information as we can, in the hopes of helping you reach your goals. Ultimately, however, your destiny is precisely that: YOUR OWN! Our words aren’t “the gospel”, nor should they be taken as such. However, if the cards, runes, and we are attempting to give you advice which might change your destination, and you ignore that advice, and your destination remains crappy, there is absolutely nothing we can do about that. Continuing to ask the same question over and over from different perspectives is not going to change things if there are steps that you need to be taking with your life to change those things, either! If you need real, clinical therapy, please seek it–a little Tarot (and us) only goes so far!
If you don’t want to know the answer, don’t ask. We are just the messengers. If you do not like what the cards/runes are telling you, we have absolutely zero control over that. By the same token, if you don’t really want to know what the cards have to say about a certain situation, don’t ask them.
If you don’t want a Higher Power mentioned or talked about in your tarot reading or counseling session, you probably picked the wrong folks. We won’t judge you, based on your personal beliefs (or lack thereof), but please know, going in, that given what we’ve chosen to do for a living and the totality of who we are, God/dess just might come up from time to time in the course of a reading or counseling session. We will try to be sensitive to your personal beliefs, of course, but that’s a two way street.
Our prices are set. What you see is what you pay, period–no extra charges, no hidden fees. If you explore, we’re pretty sure you’ll also find that our readings are very reasonably priced, considering the service provided, so please don’t ask for a “special deal” or a “freebie”. Again, this is our occupation–our job. You wouldn’t ask your hairdresser or plumber for a “special deal” or a “freebie”, so please give us the same courtesy.
We do not offer refunds of any kind. You are not paying for the message or our “gift”; you are paying us for our time and expertise, which we pour into each and every single reading, regardless of anything else.
We will no longer offer multiple readings on the same topic within a lunar cycle. If you have received a reading and counsel from us and things aren’t changing for you in ways that you want them to change, it’s probably either that the Universe doesn’t have that in store for you right now (we’re your Tarot/Oracle Card/Rune Reader, not God/dess), or because you are not taking the responsibility to follow the given signposts and make the necessary changes in your life. Again, asking the same question over and over from different perspectives is not going to change things if you don’t take the necessary steps in your life to change things! (Just so it’s clear: a lunar cycle is one month.)
We can only be as honest with you as you are with us. Please do not try to “test” us to see if we are “legit”–we are neither dogs nor ponies and this is not a dog and pony show; this is our chosen occupation. Please do not attempt to grill Connla or Frances to try to figure out who they are, either–your reading is about YOU, not them. Also, if something comes up in your cards that you know applies to you, please do not attempt to make us think it applies to someone else. Yes, we have had this happen, and when this happens, it puts both the Client and the Reader in a position where no one gets the help they need, and we personally feel betrayed, frankly, because we have been!
We will no longer do third party readings. If you want a reading done about another person, don’t ask. That is a third party reading, and we will no longer be doing them. Let’s say, for example, that you want a tarot reading done concerning your ex-husband. If we lay the cards, then we are basically “picking his brain” and “seeing into his life” without his permission. See how that can get very ugly and be a total invasion of privacy?
Your reading is YOURS, and nobody else’s! Your privacy means EVERYTHING to us! What happens in a tarot reading and counseling session with us, STAYS in that tarot reading and counseling session, and you can count on that! We hold each and every tarot reading and counseling session on the level of minister/client or priest/parishioner confidentiality. Even if we are doing readings for both you and your spouse or you and your best friend, the other person for whom we are also providing our services will never know what happened in your reading or counseling session unless YOU tell them, because you can count on the fact that we won’t, nor will we tell you what’s going in theirs! And you can be confident in sharing your payment information and your email address with us, because those things won’t be going any further, either!
We only offer SIX SLOTS per week. That is non-negotiable. Once those slots are filled, excess readings will roll over to the following week. If we are experiencing a high volume of Tarot/Oracle Card/Rune Reading sales (as often happens in October), you will be notified immediately that this is the case. Rest assured that you will never have to wait longer than one week for a response, once your purchase has been made.
Necessary Disclaimer: A tarot professional cannot predict the future with certainty and you should not rely on a tarot reading to make any decision that would affect your legal, financial, or medical condition. If your inquiry involves the law, finance, or medicine, then you should seek the advice of a licensed or qualified legal, financial, or medical professional. Also, a tarot reading cannot replace qualified mental health care. A tarot reading can only facilitate how you cope spiritually with a given situation. In certain jurisdictions, a tarot professional is required to disclose to you that tarot readings should be for entertainment purposes only, and if such a law applies to your reading, then you are hereby on notice thereof, even though I am an ordained minister who simply uses Tarot/Oracle Card/Rune Readings to facilitate deeper spiritual counseling.
